PrepGeni ("we", "our", "us") provides an AI-powered exam preparation application for students preparing for WAEC, JAMB, NECO, GCE, and related examinations. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account and use PrepGeni, we collect:

Account information: your name, email address, and password (handled securely via Supabase authentication).
Profile information: your selected exam, subjects, country, and study preferences.
Usage data: quiz attempts, scores, accuracy, streaks, XP, duel results, and AI tutor interactions — used to personalize your learning experience.
Analytics data: app usage events (screens viewed, sessions started/completed) collected via PostHog to help us improve the product.
Device information: basic technical data such as device type and operating system, used for troubleshooting.
Payment information: subscription purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. We do not store card details — only subscription status and expiry.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide core app functionality — practice questions, AI explanations, AI tutoring, duels, leaderboards, and progress tracking.
To personalize question difficulty based on your performance (adaptive learning).
To maintain leaderboards and gamification features (XP, streaks, achievements).
To analyze app usage and improve features, performance, and reliability.
To communicate with you about your account, such as email verification codes.
To process and verify subscription purchases.

3. AI Features

PrepGeni uses Google's Gemini AI to generate question explanations and power the AI Tutor chat feature. Questions you ask the AI Tutor may be processed by Google's AI services to generate responses. We do not use your personal conversations to train AI models beyond what is necessary to provide the response to you.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

Supabase — our backend database and authentication provider.
Google (Gemini AI) — to generate AI explanations and tutor responses.
Google Play Billing — to process subscription payments.
PostHog — for anonymized product analytics.

We do not share your data with advertisers or third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Data Security

Your data is protected using industry-standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and Row Level Security (RLS) on our database, ensuring users can only access their own data.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and usage data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

7. Children's Privacy

PrepGeni is designed for secondary school students aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental or guardian consent where required by applicable law.

8. Your Rights

Access, update, or correct your profile information within the app.
Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Request deletion of your account and data.
Opt out of analytics tracking by contacting us.
